What should I expect in terms of time commitment to therapy?

The only aspect of therapy at Tran & Muschett that is pre-determined is that each session is 50 minutes long. We work from a collaborative approach so you and your therapist can decide on the frequency of sessions and how long you want to be involved in our services. You can discuss these details with your therapist at your first session and on an ongoing basis. 

Do you offer couples or family therapy?

Both Angela and Tya-Elizabeth are currently only offering individual therapy. However, we are able to offer individual therapy to different members of a family. For example, one therapist can see the parent while the other therapist can see the child. Matters discussed in sessions will be kept confidential from each other.

Are your services covered by my health benefits/insurance provider and do you offer direct billing?

While many people pay for our services independently, both Angela and Tya-Elizabeth are Registered Social Workers with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and may be covered by your health benefits/insurance provider. We encourage you to check with your provider in advance to booking sessions to confirm coverage. We currently accept payment in e-transfers and do not offer direct billing. We will provide a receipt upon payment, which includes the therapist's registration/license number, that you can submit to your health benefit/insurance provider for reimbursement. 

Do you currently offer in-home sessions?

We do not offer in home sessions; however, both of our therapists offer virtual therapy if you would like to see one of them from the comfort of your own home. Alternatively, phone sessions may be possible, as they are considered on a case-by-case basis. What are your cancellation policies?

We require 24 hours' notice prior to your session for cancellations. No shows and cancellations made within 24 hours of the start of the scheduled appointment will incur the full fee. To cancel an appointment, please contact your therapist directly either by email or phone. You can find your therapist's contact info here.

Which platform do you use and what kind of device do I need to participate in virtual therapy?

We use a secured online counselling portal called NousTalk, which is HIPPA, PHIPA, PIPA, PIPEDA compliant. You will need to reside within Ontario, Canada and have access to WiFi and a computer, phone, or Chromebook/iPad with an updated Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Safari 11 browser. You will need to sign in using your first and last name. First time users will be prompted to “Allow” their camera and microphone on their device to connect with NousTalk. If you do not “Allow” your camera and microphone to connect with NousTalk, your audio video session will not work. (If you inadvertently “Block” the connection with NousTalk. You will have to go into your browser preferences or extensions and re-enable your camera and microphone settings.)

Do you offer phone therapy?

The option of sessions via phone will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please speak to your therapist or reach out to us at
